Clinical aromatherapy

Aromatherapy involves using essential oils to prevent and address psychological or physiological imbalances. Clinical aromatherapy refers to its application by healthcare professionals/therapists to treat symptoms like nausea, anxiety, and pain. This therapy is always used in conjunction with conventional allopathic medicine. Integrative medicine incorporates this approach, allowing drug treatments to be combined with other physical or natural therapies. It is often utilized in the care of patients with cancer, chronic diseases, or those receiving palliative care, considering the patient as a whole being, encompassing physical, emotional, psychological, social, and economic aspects.

In current clinical practice, aromatherapy employs essential oils for their calming, pain-relieving, and antiseptic properties, primarily through diffusion, inhalation, or massage.
